Even with parts conforming to the DIN standard, it is possible from time to time to create variations which combine the differing advantages of various parts.

As a result, mbo has augmented the existing "K" range of their rod ends programme with the new "E" range of sizes. These apply not only to rod ends in line with DIN ISO 12240-4 (formerly DIN 649) but also pivot bearings in line with DIN ISO 12240-1 (formerly DIN 648).

The "E" range of sizes is characterized by its smaller dimensions which enable other objects to be linked together. It is therefore also possible to join DIN clevises or DIN clevis joints with a rod end in such a way as to have all the advantages of both parts. The usability of such connections also enables slightly different solutions to problem cases such as misalignment and combinations which require degrees of freedom particularly where linear sequences of movement are involved.
